The Bus Section of the FirstGroup Pension Scheme

Latest Update

In February 2024, some members received a letter titled News about your Scheme pension where we outlined the proposed changes to your pension due to a review that is required by law.

The review relates to adjusting pension benefits for the effect of unequal Guaranteed Minimum Pension (GMP). As part of addressing this, we proposed to simplify pensions by converting all GMPs into a different form of pension. Visit the Q&As at the bottom of this page for more information.

If you were impacted then you will have received a letter titled Your Pension option pack or Pension changes: confirming the impact on your pension in September 2024, unless we were unable to reach you. If you were given the option to choose Pension B and returned your acceptance form to Origen then you will receive your new Pension B from your March 2025 payroll. If you were not given a pension option or did nothing you will receive your new Pension A from your March 2025 payroll. You do not need to do anything else.

If you are not receiving a pension from the Scheme then please select Non-pensioners from the drop down list under ‘Pension Changes’.

The exercise has now paused. If you were not impacted by this then your pension will not change. If we discover at a later date that a member is impacted, they will receive communications with further information. No changes will be implemented to a member’s pension without us attempting to communicate with them first. It is important to keep your contact details up to date with the scheme administrators.

If you have any queries, contact Aptia (formerly Mercer), the Scheme administrator:

You can still refer to the Q&As for a definition of GMP, background to why your pension needed to change, how we did this and more about Pension B if you were given this option.
